The Rodenhiser Family

Richard Frank Rodenhiser - founder Richard Rodenhiser, started our family’s long tradition in the service business in 1928. He owned and operated Stadium Plumbing & Supply in Allston MA. He introduced one of the first electrical drain cleaning machines and broke new ground by diversifying into the cesspool cleaning business with the area’s first vacuum pumping unit.

Alton Allan Rodenhiser - Alton, began working for his father when he returned from the army in the fifty’s. When his father passed away in the sixty’s he continued on with the pumping and drain cleaning business. Servicing the North and South Shore and traveling west, all the way to Worcester. He perfected the concept of high-pressure drain cleaning utilizing water. His new tool was trademarked the “Water Jet”. We still use an advanced model of this tool today. Alton became well known for his trademark phrase “We succeed where others fail.”

William J. Rodenhiser - president of Rodenhiser Excavating, Inc. and Rex Development Bill became involved in the family business at the young age of 7. As a young man he pushed his father to diversify into septic installation, but his father was nervous and resisted. While working with his dad, he did small jobs renting machines and learning new skills. In 1991 he followed his heart and started the excavating business. He learned a great deal the hard way, in most instances teaching himself. This included heavy equipment operation and blueprint reading, including vertical and horizontal control. Bill also learned the importance of acquiring the right type of people, putting them in independent roles and trusting their judgment. Today Bill feels that the people in our organization are unquestionably its strength. He expanded to include a septic maintenance division with pump trucks, sewer trailers, a high-pressure water jet, pipe video equipment, portable toilets, and a full service, septic repair and inspection services. He further diversified into the construction related services, and in the 90’s obtained his builder’s license. Since then we have been involved in the construction of at least sixty homes and have completed multiple additions and remodeling projects. In 2000 we added concrete formwork to our repertoire. In 2002 we handled the construction and management for a 5,000 square foot commercial building in Holliston. We recently completed a 3,500 square foot custom home in Hopkinton and we are also managing the construction of our own 12,000 square foot facility in Holliston’s New Englander Industrial Park. We have years of experience with heavy commercial site work as well as residential site work. Our company is proud to operate and maintain over four million dollars in heavy equipment and trucks.
