Title V Inspections

A Title V Inspection is an assessment of your underground septic system and is mandated by law for all homes sold in Massachusetts. The purpose is to ensure that your system is not contaminating the environment on the day of inspection. The inspection includes an inspection of;

    • The general layout and placement of all of your systems’ components.
    • The type of use (domestic, commercial etc.), design flow and whether or not it is currently occupied.
    • Analysis of it’s operational effectiveness in relationship to all of the factors that are specified in the code that determines failure/pass of systems, and also those that indicate threats to public health and the environment.
    • Your records of water usage for the past two years.
    • A description of the tank including; material, condition, age thickness of grease/scum layer etc.
The Title V Inspection is good for two years, or three years if it is pumped annually from the time of inspection.
